Hello. So my rig has a 550w PSU, 8gb of RAM and a GTX 650. It's not much but I use it for casual gaming with my brother and such. I'm going to get an SSD for it, but that's not a concern at this moment.

Right now I would like to know if I can upgrade my GPU from just the 650 to the 650 Ti BOOST with 2gb of vram. Just for a little jump on performance.

I can get the other specs if necessary, I just don't remember what processor I have.

Whats the exact make/model of that 550W PSU, if you are not sure, post a picture of it on imgur.com
Jumping from a gtx 650 to a 650ti is not worth it. Its like buying a Audi A4 then trading it for the S line model, little to no performance difference between the two.
The only reasonable upgrade I would do is buy something like a RX560/570 4GB for $50, that would be the best budget upgrade in my opinion, but first, check the make/model of that PSU, as these cards require a legitimate PSU, not a $15 chinese one.

It's an Apevia. $31.99 on Amazon. I don't think that would work. I didn't know that till now.

You will need to swap it out unfortunately, i wouldnt play with a RX560/570 like that.
Unless you find a model without external cables, but they are less powerful than normal GPU's that require external power, simply because they are limited to 75W, while the other cards can consume more/ offer you better performance.
For how much can you find this one? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mn...-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-mag-a550bn

Are you not running into RAM limits? I feel like 8gb of RAM is enough only for web browsing usage and not much else, maybe upgrading to 16 gigs would help performance? Unless you're 100% sure the GPU is the limit, adding some more RAM can't hurt

I could probably swap my one stick for a pair of faster ones of 16gb. My PC is slower than my brother's and he has 16.

I can find the MSI PSU at an okay price. May replace soon, I'll see. I'm aiming to change this one to have a better card and more RAM.

Windows 11 Pro 22H2
1 8gb DDR3 RAM stick (Again obscure brand, I don't even remember how to spell it)
PNY GTX 650 1GB DDR5
An Intel processor, I'll check the exact make and model when I get back on the PC but it's 3.10ghz.
Apevia Captain 550w PSU

If there's anything else feel free to ask but that's what I can list off the top of my head.

2013 Aptio Setup Utility

So maybe ASUS but no matter looks like you have a 1155 motherboard
