Hi , I have a dell laptop with below config. I want to upgrade to i7 processor. Is that possible ? Will there be change in performance ?
Inspiron 5558o
BIOS-A04
processor - Inten Core (TM) i3-4030U CPU @1.90Ghz (4 CPUs)

Solution
BGA socket. The CPU is soldered directly to the motherboard.
You'd have to change the motherboard, with an exact same one that takes the chip you desire. Laptop parts aren't interchangeable like desktop parts are.

Be cheaper to sell that current laptop and buy a new one.
The i3-4030U cpu uses the socket FCBGA1168

while the i7 uses LGA 1151

This means that you would have to upgrade your motherboard because the socket you have is not the one that the i7 supports. You will most likely have to upgrade your RAM aswell.

Hope this helps :)
