Can i use 1600mhz ram on 1333mhz compatible mobo?

Hey guys, so i was just wondering if i can use 1600mhz ram on my mobo (msi g41m-p25). Will it automatically decrease the speed of the ram? Just want to know bc i researched and ddr3 1600 ram is cheaper and there are a lot more models than 1333.

There is no clear answer. If the memory runs on that board, then yes it will work and run at 1333mhz. However, there is a chance the memory timings don't work correctly with your board. This is why its usually best to stick to the tested memory list for your motherboard.
