Hi,
I have an ASUS X540LA notebook with 1 RAM slot. It has a 4GB module in it (as the on-board RAM is missing) and I'd like to know if I can replace it to a 16GB module.
There are contradictory information on the web, this is a 8-years old laptop. The original statement of ASUS is/was that the max. amount of RAM it can take is 8GB. Meanwhile many other sites state that it is indeed upgradeable with a 16GB RAM module too, often referring to the official specifications that was written a long time ago and is outdated for now.
I would like to know if it is possible to use before I buy the 16GB ram module.

Thanks for any input.
