Can I use 3 sticks of RAM

I have bought used parts (I am using them right now) Could I take my ram out of my old parts and use them here? The RAM in these parts are using 2x4GB and in my old parts it was just 1x8GB. Could I just put the old ram into here? They are both DDR3 and 1600MhZ

You can but RAM works best in dual-channel or quad-channel. It will count as 3 individual sticks, which isn't optimal for performance.

You can, it sometimes won't work though. Also capacity is more important than speed. Make sure the 2x4GB sticks are in the same colored slots (are paired up properly) and the 1x8GB is in another slot. The 2x4GB will run at full DDR speeds while 1x8GB since it doesnt have a pair will not.

well, of course the 1 x 8gb will run at full ddr speeds, it just won't be in dual channel, which is a different story.

I tried it. It didn't work. It did it's normal thing. Boot up once, then shut down, the boot back up but then it didn't shut down again. It normally does this 3 times. The MEMOK light was on but I didn't press it just to check with other people. Was I supposed to press and hold it like the manual says?
