Hello,

This might be a noob question but I am aware that we can have 2x 16GB Ram, however I currently have 16GB and was about to buy a 32GB Ram stick, would it work with my 16GB and I'd get 44GB then?

Is there anything I should look out for or is it a simple "yes it will work"?

Motherboard: Gigabyte H410M S2H 1.0 LGA1200 Board
My Ram: HyperX Fury 16GB (1 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300) Desktop Memory Black Model HX426C16FB3/16

What I am buying (One of these 3, which one should i go with if it works?):

1) https://pcandparts.com/hyperx-fury-32gb-rgb-1-x-32gb-ddr4-3600-ram/

2) https://pcandparts.com/hyperx-fury-32gb-1-x32gb-ddr4-3200-ram/

3) https://pcandparts.com/hyperx-fury-32gb-rgb-1-x-32gb-ddr4-3200-ram/

Thank you

When mixing RAM, the ONLY possible answer is "Maybe it will work"

There is no definitive 'yes', unless you buy the RAM as an actual set.
So do you suggest I just buy an exact Identical to what I currently have? so it will be 16X 16X? If it doesn't work or is risky as you're saying I'd rather go with what's safe of course

iv never known mixing sizes to be an issue, if both work individually they should boot together, you wont get any dual channel benefits but they shouldnt conflict from what i know, iv got 20 gig here, 2 8's and a 4 and all shows as usable, all very different ram sticks

You should buy the whole set in the capacity you need.
Not add to the existing.

An identical one may work, but still no actual guarantee.

If you need 32GB, but a set of 2x 16GB.

As opposed to the hundreds of similar attempts we see here, where it fails.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails.

I've already purchased HyperX Fury 16GB (1 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300) Desktop Memory Black Model HX426C16FB3/16
From this store, is buying another identical one different from buying a "whole set"? I thought the set idea is marketing/mixing identical RAM so I got confused sorry

Can you tell me in short what you mean by the dual channel benefit? 😱

Solution
the real question is will you need 44 gig, i use photoshop and some video editing software and have never used all 20 gig, running minecraft with textures and mods pushes it the hardest, its well worth considering just matching up what you got for the peace of mind and knowing you will have them working as best as they can together
