Can I use 3600mhz ram on the Msi b450 gaming pro carbon with full speeds out of the box if I am running the latest bios?

Solution
I have at the moment a ryzen 7 2700x but I’m getting the ryzen 9 5900x
Don't count on it with the 2700X but with a 5900X it should be possible. But either one may not do it 'out of the box', if that means by just enabling XMP. You might have to tweak some of the primary timings or DIMM voltage or both. In the case of the 2700X you'll almost certainly have to...and maybe even the secondary timings and settings will need tweaking. You can use DRAM Calculator to help with that.

But the RAM might do 3200 or 3400 easier and perform extremely close to 3600.

How much ram are you getting?

If you are getting 32 gigs, meaning 8x4, you probably won't get 3600mhz even on the 5900X.
If you are getting 16, 8x2, then you probably might.
more sticks make it harder for the cpu to get to that high frequency.

Also, at 32gigs, usually 3600mhz is the same price as 3200mhz, so it's worth getting anyway.

I’m getting 32Gb 4x8 and yeh it’s like a £10 difference to the 3200hmz so if I get the 3600mhz will it just go down to a lower speed for example from 3600mhz to 3200mhz automatically and it wont hurt the ram
