Good day! I'm going to buy a 22" monitor that only has DVI-D and HDMI. My GPU is a Gigabyte GTX 560 that only has miniHdmi and 2 DVI-I. My current setup is :

GPU> DVI-I port> DVI-I to VGA adapter>VGA Cable> VGA port Monitor

I'm planning to get a 10 series card in the future. Since most of 10 series cards has DVI-D would it be okay? Can I use a DVI-D cable to connect a DVI-I GPU to a DVI-D Monitor using a DVI-D cable? Thanks!

Solution
A DVI-I connector on the GPU is simply DVI-D with the extra analog pins that exist for the sole use of passive DVI-to-VGA adapters. Aside from that, DVI-I and DVI-D are effectively the same and interchangeable.
