Can i use a dvi splitter for dual monitors

Hey i was wondering if i can use a dvi splitter for dual monitor setup or will it not work the way i want it to ?

Both monitors would display the same thing, plus you'd have issues if you wanted to display protected content.

You want to connect both monitors directly to the computer.
