Okay so I was wondering if I could use a flatscreen TV instead of a computer monitor. Which would be better?
Heres the monitor i would get: Dell S2340T

Heres the flatscreen I would get: LG 32LN5300

TV's usually have significantly more input lag, which is the main difference you may notice for gaming. Some TV's have methods to try to reduce that, but by and large they are still slower than most monitors. You may also have to fiddle around with overscan settings and other resolution settings to get the image to display properly on the TV.

Other than that, they use essentially the same technology, so it's really up to whichever one fits your budget better and has the size/resolution you want.
a gaming monitor is better as its designed solely for gaming, however I use a LG 4K tv as my monitor and I never even think of swapping it, although if you want the touch screen then the monitor is far better

Yeah, it's not very difficult; I've used my TV several times to display movies from the PC. But some people get really freaked out when half the taskbar is missing, because they don't know TV's overscan the image. So I think it's a better idea to make sure people know that TV's usually require a bit of extra fiddling on the remote and maybe the computer to get the full image.

Very true!

What programs do you use to play movies with your PC? That is if the program reads and supports blu-ray. I kinda want to play movies through my PC rather than my old PS3, and I meant programs for physical discs if you meant that and not streaming. Plus my surround sound is connected to my PC, so with PS3, so I don't exactly have good/loud sounds when I play through that. This is not important, just curiosity :)

PowerDVD 10 is what I use for my bluray films

I got the disk free with my bluray drive, but 10 is a fairly old version so it should be quite cheap now I would have thought, just check the version you get, not all of them support bluray

Lucky for you then, lol, thanks.

Yeah, PowerDVD is the most common one. If it didn't come with your BD drive, though, you need to get it separately. A quick search on Google shows that there are free programs that do let you read BD discs, but they may not work as well or they may not read the menu and just play the movie like selecting a file manually on your computer.

Let's say I do buy one of them such as PowerDVD 14 Ultra or something, do you know if that's just one time payment or those monthly payments?

One off, you can buy disks off of amazon or as a download from their site

Okay, that's good to know, I kinda want to play from my PC, I haven't seen the new hunger games, I'm planning to pre-order the disc when it is out on March 9th I think, the UHD upscaling is great :)

It's one time. I've had my copy of PowerDVD (I think version 11 or 12?) for over 3 years, now. They have no monthly payment option that I know of.

Thanks for the confirmation 😀
