Hey all,

Can I replace my 7.6V / 62Wh battery with a 7.4V / 51Wh battery? (and also still use the same 63W charger?)

If interested:
  • Dell Latitude E5470
  • Both batteries seem to be the same size (+ seen 7.6V laptop models in 7.4V listings)
  • I'm aware there will be a drop in battery life - That's fine
  • A decent 7.6V battery is 3x the price of the 7.4V and I don't want to be spending that
  • Example 7.4V / 7.6V

Thanks in advance!

If you buy a genuine OEM replacement it will have the same power specs as the original. That's the only one I would buy, but I fully understand not everyone can afford to do that.

But don't assume that a lower voltage battery will be ok. The only choice for me would be where to get it from, not whether I should get one with different specs.

Yeah completely, I do follow the mantra "buy cheap, buy twice" but unfortunately money has been dictating things recently!

Yeah very fair point - I know it's fleabay, but based on the feedback for this specific battery, that it's listed as genuine, and the seller's 40k/100% score, I've gone for this one.

Thanks everyone for your quick and sobering replies!
