Can I use a PCI IDE controller along with my MB's?

I bought myself a third hard disk recently. Problem is, my motherboard only has two IDE slots, and I have a DVD-Rom drive and a CD-RW, using up all four connections. My question is, I bought myself a Promise Ultra66 card on eBay for cheap, but can I use it *along* with my motherboard's controller? (i.e.: have my three hard disks on my motherboard's controllers, and my two CD-ROMs on the Ultra66 card.) Could this cause any unexpected problems?

Thanks in advance.

This should work without any problems. But better check if that controller card support ATAPI (CD-ROM, etc) devices. Otherwise you will have to connect the HDs to the Promise controller.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dims when I turn it on 😱

Cool, thanks. One of my hard disks (which I use mostly for backups, anyway) ia 5400RPM, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem putting it on the Ultra66 controller. Thanks for the reply. :)

Just checked some sites online, seems it should work with ATAPI drives.
