can i use a red wd drive as a single backup in a single case?

I want to buy a 2 or 3 tb wd hard drive for backs, but have only a single case for a 3.5 sata, vs a raid system. Can I use a red drive in a single external case as a beckup system?

yes, it'll work fine, but why buy red, when you can buy green which would be perfect for backups

Just thought a red would be more dependable. Do you know why I can't find a new wd blue 2tb drive anywhere?
