[SOLVED] Can i use a router on a modem router combo?

My relative is having problems connecting to COD modern warefare on his ps4. We have tried many different fixes to the point where i belive its the router. Whether it was activision's fault or the ISP's fault i was wodering if i can just give him my asus router and use that instead of the built in router on his ISP's modem. Would that be possible?

If your relative has a modem-router combo from the ISP, then another router might not help since it has to go thru the ISP router first.
If the router and modem are two separate devices then you could replace the router and if the router is the issue then it could help.
