Can I use a "universal" AC Adapter to plug in my Uniden Cordless Phone?

I have an old Uniden Cordless Phone (model DXA15588-2) that's in great condition. It takes a DC in 9V (yellow) adapter. Can i just buy any DC in 9V adapter or will only the original OEM adapter work?

There are a few things to check.

The new transformer's maximum output amps need to be the same or higher than the original.

The polarity of the plug needs to be the same. They are typically positive on the inside connection of the plug and negative on the outside connection. Some universal transformers may have a switch that lets you change the polarity at the plug.

There should be markings on the transformer/plug to show what these are.

No. You just need to make sure you get the correct transformer. If you still have the old transformer it should have the info you need.
