Can I use a Windows 7 Pro key to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro?

I'm currently running Windows 10 Home and want to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. If I were to buy a key for Windows 7 Pro could I use that to upgrade?

But a valid Win 7 Pro license is pretty much the same price as a valid Win 10 Pro license.

No, still the same price.
And MS does not want you to buy Win 7, so unlikely to discount it. They want you on Win 10.
