can i use ac97 audio module or panel with my motherboard front audio header i connected ac97 front audio panel with my motherboards but no sound is coming my motherboard is gigabyte ga78lmts2 rev 1.2 because i have my old cabinet it has ac97 front audio panel

AC97 and HD Audio pin-outs are different. If you want to use older front panel connections with your motherboard, you will have to do some minor rewiring of the jack that plugs onto the motherboard.

But in guide says that a ac97 module is supported by this motherboard without any rewiring

page 17 it have ac 97 http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb-manual_ga-78lmt-s2_e.pdf but in bios it is set default to hd the on page 28 put sound to default it should work .

if your read your motherboard user manual it tell press to enter then you select default by pressing up or down arrow as show in the picture and apply change you should have sound in ac 97 .
