Can i use an ihome as speakers?

I have an ihome that has an aux cord port and I was wondering if I can connect my ihome with the aux cord to my pc to use as speakers. My first question I guess is if that is safe to do for my computer or if that's even possible. My second question is whats the best place to plug the aux cord into on my pc, would it be the audio output? The ihome port says "Audio In" so I'm assuming I'd connect it to my pcs audio out.

I tried that and it didn't work. I'm not sure if there is another option or if it just wont work

I looked over the iHome some more and found a small button that says "audio in" I pressed that and it works. I guess the ihomes are preset to play ipods or iphones so it just needed to be on a different mode. thanks for the help
