Can I use an old XP product key with a Windows 7 disc?

Hi,

My local PC repair shop is clearing out old equipment and they gave me an old PC. With it, they also gave me an OEM Windows XP disc and a produt key.

Could I use that product key to install Windows 7 on a different PC?

No it wont work. First reason is its probably an OEM key meaning it can only be activated once. And second and most important a xp key wont work with 7.
