Hello!

I was wondering if I could use an XFX RX570 8GB graphics card with a 400w PSU. According to the Outervision power supply calculator, it should be good (393W), but on the XFX website, it says that it requires a 500w PSU. I am not planning on overclocking anything at all.

Here are the system specs:

AMD Ryzen 2600X
Gigabyte A320M-S2H
120GB M.2
240GB SSD
1 x 8GB DDR4-3200 RAM
Rosewill 400W PSU

Currently I am using an 8400GS for the graphics card. I was fine using it for what I needed it for but now my son wants to use the computer for gaming and editing so I am buying a new GPU.

Thank you! :)

Do your own manual calculation(s) of the power requirements then try two or three of the calculators. Look for a consensus value regarding the system's wattage requirements.

Then consider the reviewed PSU's with respect to both budget and power requirements.

PSU's are a critical component - do not skimp on quality. You will likely need a higher budget.
That wattage is probably on the knifes edge.
It should work, as long as that psu can actually provide it.

That being said... That is a low quality power supply. rosewill is not known for being a good powersupply manufacturer.
Besides wattage which would barely be enough, i would get a new, better quality power supply.

Anything above b, or perferablly b+ on the psu tier list (over on the ltt forum) is a good choice.)

Your lower power Rosewill PSU may only have a 6-pin PCIe power cable and the XFX GPU you listed requires an 8-pin cable. Verify you have the proper power cable since you didn't list the actual PSU model. It's likely you'll need a PSU upgrade.
