Can I use ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Rev. 2 Bios on Rev. 1 board?

Hello everyone.

Just as the title says. Can I use the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Rev. 2 Bios on the Rev. 1 board? I keep hearing that both boards are exactly the same, and the only changes are the new VRM and they replaced a 3-pin fan header with a 4-pin.

Will using the bios cause any harm to my rev. 1 mobo?

Well theoretically it should work... Keep in mind PCI-e 3.0 is another difference. I would not take the chance, but it would be VERY interesting to see if anyone has actually done this.

So, what issue are having right now, and does the new BIOS have an update to it that specifically addresses the issue you are having?
If not, there is no need to update your BIOS. Your BIOS is a perfect example of the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" saying!

I doubt you will be able to flash the BIOS. Maybe by swapping the BIOS chips, but I don't see the reason.

There's a few minor differences in the bios between them, i'm more than happy with my 990FX Rev.1 except the support disk that comes with original didn't support their Thermal Radar on Win8 but i ran a Rev.2 support disk and it sorted it.
