Hello everyone! I just got a new 40 series card that requires two separate PCI-E cables to power the gpu. So I have the Corsair cx750m and it has two 8 pin ports. In between these two ports it says "6+2 PCI-E Connector & 4+4 CPU. My question is can I use both of those ports for pcie cables? Or is one for PCI-E and other for 4+4CPU if that’s what you use? I’m assuming they can be used for either or but I wanted to be extra sure about it before I started running the card a ton.

Thanks for the quick reply and for reassuring me on that. I believe my specific PSU has the cpu cable hardwired to it. Cause when I scoped it out yesterday and it only had one PCI-E (from old card)and one sata connected in a modular way. And it’s been used daily for years that way. Does that sound right to you?

not knowing the full specs of the pc, it is possible your mobo/cpu combo does not need the extra cpu power. so only what is hardwired is needed. not a big deal if that's all it needs.

some more power hungry cpu's use that extra 4+4 to the mobo to feed the cpu beast. been working as is so no need to second guess it now :)

so just plug the second pcie power cable in and you're good to go.

Interesting, Just for the sake of info I have MSI X570 gaming plus board and Ryzen 5600x CPU. I’m considering playing around with it later after work and see if adding that additional cpu cable will help the CPU.

looking closer it seems you have a 4+4 hardwired and already in use on your mobo.

you have an extra modular cable to use but your mobo does not need it, especially for a 5600x. you're already giving it way more power than it can use. i have a couple of those and it barely breaks 100w in stress test and i think i may have gotten it to 125w or so if i removed limits and let it really eat.

Awesome! Thanks guys! So with all that being said I should stick with how it is? With the exception of adding an additional PCI-E for my new gpu?
