Can i use DDR on a PC with DDR3

I have a old PC which had 256 MBs of RAM, I later added 1GB of DDR Ram.

2 Years ago I bought a new PC with the following Specs:
Core i3 3.20 Ghz
2GB DDR3 RAM
Intel HD Graphics 2500
500 GB Hard Disk

So, I want to remove the 1GB DDR Ram from the old PC and put it in the new PC with DDR3, So my main question is, can i mix DDR3 and DDR ram so they work together?

No; they're physically and electrically different. Won't fit in the slot, won't work even if it did fit.
