Can I use different stock coolers on different CPUs?

I'm giving my father my old i5 750 and motherboard but I don't have the fan for it. I can either use the stock fan that came with his old Pentium E5500 or buy a fan online. Which one should I do? And if I should get a fan online what would you recommend? He wont be doing any overclocking or anything, just stock use, so something nice and cheap please?

the fan shouldn't be any different than the new ones.Make sure you apply new thermal paste.
