So I bought a GTX 950 2GB ( The regular one ) and I noticed that it needed a 6 pin pci-e connector.

My PSU is 500 watts but I didn't see any 6 pin pci-e cable. So is it ok if I use a dual molex to 6 pin adapter?
I have 2 molex cables that aren't in use and i thought that maybe I could use the adapter.

Oh and I read that the GTX 950 doesn't use a ton of power.

Btw here a my pc specs :
-. Intel core i7-4790 3.6 Ghz
-. 2 x 4 Gb Hyperx Fury ddr3 ram 1600mhz
-. 1x harddrive
-. 1x dvd drive
-. 1x 90mm fan
-. Standard keyboard and mouse

I really want to try and use the dual molex to 6 pin adapter...

what specific psu do you have? as gam3r says, a 500w unit with no 6 pin says it probably low quality and may not be able to handle the power draw.

2 molex won't give the full 75w a 6 pin is supposed to but a 950 won't use it all either. still probably not a good idea to use one without knowing for sure it can actually provide the power it is supposed to.

I don't see any brand. Its brandles. I'll write down the details that stand on the sticker :

Orange : +3.3v = 32A
Red : +5.0v = 38A
Yellow : +12v = 20A
White : -5.0v = -
Blue : -12v = 1A
Purple : 5Vsb = 3A
Grey : P/G = OK

ATX 110V/220V
Current 8A
Frequency 50-60 Hz

CAUTION
+3.3v and 5.0vDC combined power 250w max

if you leave the 950 at stock speeds the psu might be able to handle it. but it will be running close to 100% to do it. this is not suggested usage for a quality unit but a cheap unit like you have won't last very long like that. you have 240w of 12v power available (which means yur psu is effectively a 250w unit and not 500w). your cpu is 85w and the motherboard uses at least another 75w plus the drives and such. so you are using 160w or so without the gpu.

a 950 is between 90 and 100w which puts you right at or over the total available to the system. i do not suggest you use this psu for this gpu and would instead suggest a new psu if you want to use the card. i doubt the psu will hold up very long and will give a ton of trouble while it does "work". you can easily get away with a cheaper 400w psu for the build you have such as this xfx unit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207036&cm_re=XFX_XT_400W_80%2b_Bronze-_-17-207-036-_-Product or $35 gets you 500w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207037&cm_re=XFX_XT_400W_80%2b_Bronze-_-17-207-036-_-Product

$25 after $15 rebate and plenty of quality power for the system. this is actually a psu that gives the power it claims to!!

I bought a new GPU (570) that required two six pin connectors. However, I was running a stock PSU. I really wouldn't run the risk of using Molex, when you can pick up secondhand Corsairs like I did for £25/$35. If you're broke, then maybe, but still, Molex connectors are notoriously shite
