Can I use DVDROM as CDROM?

Hi people. My CDROM is toast & I figured instead o buyin a new one I would just buy a DVDROM (Toshiba 16x/48x) instead. Will this be bad for copying CD's to my LG (12x/8x/32x) burner? Can I live with DVDROM performing CDROM daily duties?

As long as you don't get the absolute cheapest dvd drive, it'll have a seperate laser for cdrom. So, yes you can use a dvd drive for reading cd's.

Well i have a Creative 5x dvd / 24x cd-rom and a lite-on 12x10x32 burner no problems over here.

Nice Intel and AMD users get a Cookie.... Yummy
