i want to revive my old old computer that have gtx 285 on it
The gpu have two DVI-I connector
And since i only have crt monitor to test it,
I buy conveter, unfortunatelly only found DVI-D converter (pasive).
I bought it and test on my computer. It doesnt diplay any signal. But my computer was actually booting to os. I confirm it by using anydesk remote.
I assume its converter related
Maybe because the DVI-D at converter only carry digital signal.
But then i read somewhere online, He says that anything with vga connector is analog.
Is that true?
If its true i just wonder why this converter exist? Its clearly that dvi-d carries only digital signal and try to pasively convert to analog signal?

hope somebody explain this before i buy a new monitor because i need to confirm this was not my gpu fault

Correct.

Also correct. Why make such an adapter? I have no clue. A DVI-I to VGA adapter should work just fine. The DVI-D adapter won't help you.

thanks for the answer
I ended up ordering pasive DVI-I converter before buying a new monitor. Just to be sure my gpu was not faulty

Now i know why (dvi-d to vga) pasive converter even exist
It may made for E-Waste 😀
