can i use fb-dimm ddr2 ram in casual desktop?(gigabyte p35 ds3 ver1.0 xeon 5450 3.0ghz)

Hello,

FB-DIMM is not compatible with your motherboard, you know the reason why. The memory is notched differently from conventional 240-pin DDR2 (check the image below). Moreover, it uses a different technology compared to normal memory and it supports ECC function as well.

There are many other systems that use FBDIMM memory (Fully Buffered memory) but mainly I have seen them being used in servers or workstations using "Xeon 5000/5100 series and beyond".
