Can i use HDMI and have sound from external audio device in my pc?

I plan to connect my monitor with HDMI, to my computer, in order to have better quiality. Though i want to connect my external audio device on the motherboard. Is that possible or i will get no sound from my external audio device but only from my monitor?

You should be able to use HDMI for video and still use your on-board sound for audio.

Yes. HDMI would be the output, so you are perfectly fine with any of the inputs from the MB for your external devices.
