So i want to use the apple upgrade program which makes me pay $35 every month and i get a new iphone each year. If I buy it in the USA (I live in New Zealand) and I get it through t-mobile and then I onlock it and use Vodafone or Spark or some other NZ carrier, do I still have to pay what the t-mobile plan would have cost? and would it cancel my apple upgrade program?

Thanks

I saw this video on how to unlcok your iPhone 6S from techsource: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuk3X8tugO0

Why would you want to do this? You technically do not own the phone ever ... they worked out it is cheaper to get a contract and sell your phone at the end. As you have to send the phone back at the end, and then Apple will sell it as refurbished...

Regardless that is a lot of hassle you are going through, and it depends with the t-mobile thing. If you get it with a contract sim then yes of course! If it is just t-mobile locked, then you need to get it unlocked ... don't see how it would affect your apple upgrade program contract. But i cannot be 100% on that.

If you want to play both T-Mobile and Vodafone for the service, then yes you can use Vodafone and still do the upgrade from T-Mobile, although you are paying for two different cell services and 35 on top of that each month so it's very silly to actually do.

Why would you pay about $400 a year just so you can get a new phone? Waste of money IMHO. Most carriers offer a free or low cost upgrade every few years anyway if you re-new with them. A smartphone should run anything that comes out for a few years, especially if it's a mid to high range model, no need to upgrade every year or even every two years just to get a new shiny toy. That's how companies separate your money from you to get large bonuses for their CEOs and management.

ah ok thank you. I have decided not to use the iphone upgrade program and have bought an iphone 6s 128GB and that should last me at least 3 years.

thank you for your answer :)
