can i use laptop HHD to my desktop

my sister had a broken laptop and i have a spare desktop parts can i use its HHD.

im planing to build a desktop PC (not a gaming for browsing and streaming etc).

my question is can i use the laptops HHD for my desktop?

i have an old i3 540, 4gb ram, itelmobo, if it will work then i only need a psu to have an instant pc.

Hello... Yes and NO... Sometimes they use a special SATA micro connector on them... Sometimes Not.
Also you will have to use a smaller mounting bracket in your case.

Plus you may need to re-install the OS. It will most likely not boot with the same OS install that the laptop used(because of hardware differences)

its fine but the original os is lost, can i install new os like window 7?
because according to the spec its window7 and vista
