[SOLVED] Can i use lower frequency ram than the cpu supports?

Hello, i wanna upgrade my CPU but i need some help. So, i have 2x4gb 2400mhz ram and i wanna know if i can use a CPU that requires a 2666mhz ram, if i can, are there any disadvantages?

Yes you can run slower RAM. To get the best from your new cpu you should run fast ram - 3200MHz is the sweet spot these days. What CPU is it?

This depends on motherboard model and BIOS version.
Determine motherboard model and BIOS version first. You can use CPU-Z to get info about your motherboard. Then check manufacturer support page for supported CPUs.
