[SOLVED] Can I use M.2 nVME SSD to replace M.2 SATA 2280

There's a deal on 500GB drives and I want to upgrade my 2012 15" MBPr, but the adapter is different. Looks like it's a SATA type M.2 drive instead of the faster nVME type.

I want to know if I can use this drive:
WD - WD_BLACK SN750 NVMe Gaming 500GB PCIe Gen 3 x4 Internal Solid State Drive

With an adapter:

It clearly states on the Amazon site that this adapter is for the one type.

So if I read this correctly, I'm stuck unless there's some adapter that will allow me to use the newer format on the older MBP slot.

IDK if I want to invest in an older, slower card at this point, but for some $60ish I'd like to upgrade.

If the laptop can only use a SATA III drive, thats all it can use.
Even if there were an 'adapter', any NVMe drive would still only be SATA III speed.

And there is not such an adapter.

I doubt it and even if there was such a thing you would likely see zip perf wise over a sata m.2 other than benchmarks.

NVME drive can not operate in slot, that is sata only.
There will be no SATA III speed. It either operates( if NVME is supported) or doesn't (if NVME is not supported).
