can i use microsoft wireless display adapter with my pc

As long as you are not going to do any gaming on the TV it will work.

do i need to find and download the widi software or whatever its called?

I have no idea how to set it up. A quick Google search only returned a bunch of results saying to buy a Chromecast instead.
