I just got a new computer and realized I didn't have a wifi adapter but I do have my phone which gets a pretty strong signal. How could I set that up as a wifi adapter? I have windows 8 and an lg lucid 2 as my phone

Something like reverse tethering? WiFi Router>phone>computer? That as undesirable as it is undoable. Since you have solid wifi, get a small USB adapter. They can be found for as low as US$15. One of your friends may even have one laying about. It really is the best way to go.

Yes you can do this. I have cyanogenmod running on my nexus 5. there is a feature called "usb-tethering" that allows your phone to function in this manner. I use it because I find it hard to find drivers that work well with wifi adapters under linux. I don't know if you can game on a setup like this, but it's fine for watching hd youtube.
