A couple of years ago I bought an HP computer with an i7 4970s and a gtx 745 videocard. But now my videocard is slow and so is the rest of my system and I want to make a new system with my old CPU(and the rest new)
It's still quite good an I have no money to buy a new CPU. When I was searching on pcpartpicker for a new lga1150 motherboard there was a warning :
"Some Intel B85 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions." So I have two options:
I use my old mobo that was on my computer(hp pavillion 500-306nd) and don't have to worry about that BIOS update, but have maybe less performance and shit (It has an old Hewlett-Packard 2AF7 version 1.04, and BIOS: AMI, 80.15)
Or get a new mobo and put my old CPU in and maybe take it to an local pc store so they can use an older CPU to install the correct BIOS.
