can i use my old hdd for my new build

i am buying a new pc because my old one pci slot will not work but for some reason the second pci slow will work but will not display anything on screen. so am hoping my old hdd that has everything on it will work with my new pc also can i use a ssd for a boot os only and still have a os on my hdd.also is a ssd really worth it.and here is my new build take a look is it alright http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HqQdWZ my psu is another thing that is coming to my new build it is a 620watt

If the HDD has the OS on it you might have to do a reinstall - depending on whether its an oem version of windows.

You will have to at least change the drivers to suit the new motherboard.

one more thing when i install windows on ssd will i be able to still use all my old programs on my old hdd or will it have a problem i think i read some where a year ago it might not work

I didn't know you were going to install the OS on a SSD.

Your PC won't like having 2 OS. It will boot and ask about your Boot Manager.

You'll need to delete the 100mb system partition on the HDD.

Then if your OS is on a different partition to your apps then delete the OS partition.

Some apps may work but some will think they are on C: which they won't be and they won't find all their components. It's better to just copy off data (eg docs, vids, pictures) then re-format the HDD and re-install apps and copy data back.

one last thing i just notice will my antivirus scan both the ssd and hdd at the same time or do i have to do it one by one
