I want to use my GTX 950 card in my existing PC
  • but it will not fit. Then I learned about PCIe extenders.
  • Now I find my existing PC has PCIe 2.0 and my MSI card is showing PCIe 3.0.
Will this work?
  • Would the card work but with the transfer throttled from 8 GT/s to 5, and would the frequency adapt (5 GHz vs 8)
  • And if so, would these limits have a discernible effect on performance? I would like to try something like iRacing with a 2560 x 1440 monitor.
  • Then I would need a 6 prong power supply - connect to a second PS? (using just the one plug)
TECH INFO
Dell 7010, mfg 2/2014, i7 3770. small form factor, Win 10 Pro

Solution
It'll work fine, the only difference is there might be a little more VRAM usage but overall you will not notice any performance dips. I used a GTX 780 on a 2.0 slot long ago and a 780 is more powerful than a 950. I had no issues in performance compared to when I used it on a 3.0 later on.
