Can I use RGB fans with a controller and with no RGB header?

I have a MSI Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard, and I want to buy Corsair HD120 RGB Fans. I know the motherboard doesn’t have an RGB header. But the fans come with a Node Pro but can I still use the RGB fans with the Node Pro or do I have to have the RGB header on my motherboard?

Yes, they use a custom hub. It has a lighting controller built in (but it is optional). The controller plugs into the power supply.
