Can i use sata 2 hard dive to replace my sata hard drive

Can i use sata 2 hard disk to replace my old sata 1 hard disk if there's any error or bug on my mainboard. How about sata 3 can i use it also on my sata 1 mainboard.

HDDs don't run that fast - only about sata1.0 speeds. So sata1, 2 or 3 ports will be fine.
