[SOLVED] Can I use SSD with Windows 10 preinstalled on a new desktop?

I guess this answer comes in two parts...
So I bought a laptop a year ago and I upgraded its 512GB NvME SSD to a 1TB SSD. I am currently trying to build a desktop computer and I am trying to determine the best option for storage. Can I use the 512GB SSD as the boot drive or will I have to reformat the drive? If so, would it be smarter to keep the original laptop SSD unformatted in case I need to RMA my laptop?

You will need to reformat the drive and do a fresh install and probably run W10 without activating it or buy a new license.
