Solution

So can the hdmi end connect to my motherboard and the DVI D end connect to my monitor?

Yep, the cable you found is strictly one way, so you'd want to either use this or find a hdmi to display port, not vice versa.

So i can put the hdmi in the motherboard and the displayport in the monitor?

No you can't, read the q&a section, someone tested it and it didn't work. http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Gold-Plated-DisplayPort/dp/B004C9P9TM?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A2HI77ZYQGGRR3&tag=viglink20237-20

Aight, well one might work (DP to HDMI) one WILL work (HDMI to DVI-D), i'd go the safe way cause it's quality is just as good and is sure to work.
