I’m planning on getting another nvme m.2 gen3 SSD so I can have more storage but on my mobo (mag b560 tomahawk wifi) there’s 2 m.2 gen3 slots but one of them doesn’t have a shield. Can I just move the gen4 m.2 shield to the slot that didn’t come with one?

No, because the heat spreader (what you call "shield") screws into specific parts that the other slot doesn't have. You don't need it. Most NVMe drives don't need it and any that might need one for heat related concerns usually has its own.
Okay thanks. I’d heard that you really don’t need one but I wasnt sure if that was true or not.
