[SOLVED] Can I use the same waterblock for my NVIDIA GTX 1070 GPU on a new NVIDIA RTX 2080 GPU?

Planning on upgrading my GPU and CPU and wondering if I need a new water block and which ones are compatible. I like the EK ones but couldn't find details on the card differences to match them with the block differences. Just making a shopping list at the moment.

Sure, no problem. This is one issue that custom watercooling builds should always make certain to check that the GPU in question for the build has a block with proper fitment. This is one of the only 'difficult' things to accomplish unless you stick with GPUs that follow reference PCB.

I would be cautious, even if the GPU mounting holes are the same, does not mean the block has the same clearances for vRAM, VRMs, MOSFETs and other components on one card to another. If something causes a block to offset from the GPU core incorrectly, it will not seat and cooler the graphics card or other components correctly. Worst case, you could short out a card (read: destroy) if you happened to short something on the PCB or contact 2 solder points.

I may have answered my own question here but if you guys could check and confirm. Looks like they're not compatible.
