Hello guys.

I just registered here bacause I got a question.
Tomorrow I'm planning to buy an HDD, but not sure if I can use it with my motherboard.
My motherboard is Asus p8h61-mx r2.0 and the HDD I was thinking to buy is HDD 1 TB, WD10EZEX, SATA-6Gb, 7200 rpm, 64 MB blue edition.

I'm from Bosnia and atm I can't really afford an SSD and there are not so many HDD's to choose. Also is 1TB quite enough for gaming?

My PC specs are:
Mobo: Asus p8h61-mx r2.0
CPU: Intel i3 3250
GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 750 ti 2gb ddr5
RAM: 6gb ddr3 1666 mhz.
PSU: Thermaltake Smart SE 630w
HDD: Some old 80GB one 🙁 (the only reason I'm buying a new HDD)
Monitor: LG Flatron w1946 1366x768

Thanks for your reply. So when I buy that HDD I will lose some performance on it? Is it noticable/big?

Hi there tuc619,

Welcome to the community. :)
Yes you can use that that even though it is SATA 3 while your MOBO supports SATA 2. I don't really think that you will notice any performance decrease. Yet, in case you decide to get an SSD, at a later point, its speed may be limited by the SATA 2 ports.

Thanks a lot, glad to be here :)
So I might not get full speed from an SSD if I ever get it, but it will still increase my performance right?
I just bought the WD Blue 1TB HDD, installed it and it's working perfectly. Finaly an HDD where I'm able to install a bunch of games :)

Yeah, SSD would significantly reduce boot/loading times.(this will not affect overall gaming performance)
I guess you can get a small SSD just for your OS, so your system can boot faster, and most played games.

It's great that you're happy with your WD drive. :)
