I read your original post again..
No you cant use the 955 on your current motherboard, if you want to use the 955 youll have to get a new motherboard, which will probably have ddr3 ram slots on it, in which case youll need new ram.

mobo = motherboard aka mainboard

As for ram - CPU connection:
CPUs support different types of ram, for example the intel i5-750 supports ddr3 ram up to 1333mhz. while phenom II CPUs support ddr2 ram upto 1066 and ddr3 ram upto 1333mhz i think. If the CPU is like the phenoms, with support for two types of ram, then the motherboard configuration will decide which type of ram you need.

and do you any good/cheap mobo's/ram? (and do ineed ddr2 or 3, because you said phenom 2 supports 2 &3)

For phenom II x4 955, yea youll need a new mobo, but ram, maybe maybe not, depends if you get a ddr3 or ddr2 board or not (assuming your current am2 board has ddr2 ram which im guessing it does)

You can get ddr2 am3 mobos, yes.
4gb of ddr3 ram you can get for around 100$ on newegg, and for mobos look at something around 70-90$

What do you think about this one?

would that mess up some components of my computer, because my dad said some things might not work

Also, i have 3gb of ram on my current motherboard, so will 4gb of ddr3 make a difference to 3gb of ddr2?
