Can I use two brands of ram together??

I have a system running 4 gigs of corsair vengeance.

and want to add 8 gigs to have 12 gigs all together. I was going to get this dual channel kit

Because it has the same specs as the ram I have.

But I saw this kit and it is cheaper. Appears to have the same specs as well. Should I go with this mushkin kit? and is it compatible with my corsair memory?

Even though the specs are the same, the best answer you'll get is it *might* work. There's no telling when you mix and match memory from different kits.

Does the latency matter between 8 and 9? My stuff is more because it is 8.

It will work just fine in 99% cases. The modern mobos are very flexible to deal with the RAM.

I agree with nonaddictedgamer. If your going to do this, the Corsair 8gb kit with the xmp profile is your best bet. But, no guarantees.....

Yes the red corsair stuff is the same spec as I have already so it should work fine.

I went ahead and got the 4 gb kit and now will have 8 gigs all together. I put the rest of the money into a better monitor for 30 bucks more.
