Can i use two different ram sticks?

I currently have a 4gb kingston ram stick at 1333mhz CL9 DDR3 (Part Number 9905403-439.A00LF) and i'm going to buy this ram GEIL Value 4GB 1600Mhz CL11 DDR3 (GN34GB1600C11S) Can it run with my existing ram i dont care if it going to slow itself down I don't want them in dual channel i just want to have 8GB

There is no guarantees. It could work, or maybe not. For mixing RAM sticks, it's always no guarantees, even with identical brand and model. And yes, if it work, the faster will be downclocked to the speed of the slowest RAM stick.
 


If it dosen't work can i do something like set timings in BIOS (Also if it does work my existing memory will set itself to CL11 correct?)
 


Yes, sometimes changing some timings on BIOS will make sticks to work. But again, no guarantees.

And yes, if it works all memory will be set to the same CL and settings.
 
If the don't work what will happend system will fail to POST or what?
And if i need to set them into BIOS. Do i need to set them on the freqency of the slower one (1333Mhz) and CL of the higher one (CL11)? And then set timings?
