Can I use USB 3.0 PCI-e 1x to 16x Extender Riser to experience the same as it is directly installed on my motherboard?

Unfortunately, I have 1 PCI-e 3.0 16x slot(Blue Colour) where I installed AMD Radeon HD 5450 1Gb adapter. I decided to make a Gaming channel but some games are not supported on my PC. I have Intel Desktop board 02. I recently heard about GT710 2Gb Graphics card. I want to install them both to experience as 2 GPUs in one motherboard. Can I use USB 3.0 PCI-e 1x to 16x Extender Riser to experience the same?

Thanks in advance,
Binay Shaw.

Solution
Okay i was doing benchmark on my second pc E5800 4.2Ghz 1051 mhz OCZ sli ready and R7 250 1GB GDDR5 1050core and 1150 memory, on games COD WAW, AC4BF, COD MW,CRYSIS 3,GTA 4,
Gameplay for benchmarking was 5 min with fraps and max resolution of 1680x1050 (sorry my monitor doesnt support more).Everything i tested was on singleplayer and details i tried to aim for 60fps.
[/color]First with PCIE riser (assuming that i have Gen 1 not gen 3 you could have better results.
COD WAW details everything low or turned off 1366x768 (was stuttery) AVG 23, MIN 8, MAX 93
AC4BF MIN 10, AVG 17, MAX 60, on sea, on land MIN 8 AVG 20 MAX 60
COD 4 MIN 8, AVG 15, MAX 60,
CRYSIS 3 too low min 1, max 1, avg 1,
GTA...
Hmm, thats new newer tried to do it, you could try to, but be sure to buy Powered usb 3.0 pcie x1 to x16 that you could plug in riser 3 pin connector.I would suggest you to record with OBS probably because you can set which gpu to use, and you would have to need another hdd which saves that recording cause it could use your entire HDD speed. For HDD you need one where store games, and one for recording where to store in short story, soo 2 seperate HDD's, NOT PATRITION.

P.S im trying it right now.

COD 4 MIN 8, AVG 15, MAX 60,
CRYSIS 3 too low min 1, max 1, avg 1,
GTA 4 MIN 5, AVG 15, MAX 30,

Now tests are without pciex1 to x16 riser
COD WAW same 1366x768 low, MIN 64, AVG 88MAX 94, could bump up settings to max.
AC4BF MIN 37 ,AVG 59, MAX 60,
COD 4 MIN 46, AVG 56, MAX 90 (First ship mission)
CRYSIS 3 MIN 8, AVG 30, MAX 31,
GTA 4 well stuttery as usual... MIN 8, AVG 34, MAX 60

Well this tests show you that PCIEx1 to x16 can cause slowdowns etc, but as your is gen 3 it could be better, but i wouldnt buy it for recording, i would rather buy one more HDD 500GB is eunogh?

https://imgur.com/a/LmOAn my test system.

For recording with one gpu and playing with another you could test it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSbI11Sbp14

Short story, im giving you 3 options:
1.Buy riser and record with GPU on riser
2.You could buy both HDD and Powered riser (Buy used HDD 500GB or 1TB) and use OBS for recording,
3.Buy something like Elgato recorded, but as youre gonna need HDMI cable for that, youre gonna need HDMI capable monitor, because elgato goes like this PC-ELGATO-MONITOR.

PS. Forgot that my gpu is running X8 for default, cause its low profile card.your could run x4,x8, my mobo is very old 😀

Solution

Thanks for doing that, always wondered how the 1x risers would affect graphical rendering but never cared enough to shut down the miner for testing

What you would use these two GPUs for? You can't SLI them anyway. If your "new" GT710 can fit existing PCI-e 2,0 slot, it will still work, and chances are it'll perform better than your proposed USB-to-PCI setuo.
