Can I use WD Purple 1TB HDD as normal HDD

Can I use WD Purple 1TB HDD as normal HDD. as I know this is for surveillance purpose but i want to install as in normal pc to store my data.

Yes you can. In the end it is just a hard drive. What they did was make it a bit more robust so it is designed to run 24/7, no stopping ever. It will function as a normal hard drive just like their RED version which is specialized for RAID configurations.

Did you get this as a gift or something, for you normally don't want to pay for the extra cost of something like this unless you need it

I bought this from snapdeal.com
My rig is Intel E5300 2.6GHz with Gigabyte G41 included 2GB RAM.
I decided this to buy because it has 3 years warranty and less price then WD Black another option was there WD black but this has only 2 years warranty.
